Looking back at lines 323-344 in Act Two, it appears obvious that Mary's defense of Elizabeth Proctor in court changed the power dynamics among Mary, Elizabeth, and John Proctor. How is the situation in the Proctor household a microcosm of the upheaval going on throughout the community? And is Proctor correct in his analysis of the situation in lines 880-884 of Act Two?
Mary, amongst the rest of the other young ladies, such as Abigail and Tituba are slowly gaining control over the adults. Mary Warren defended Elizabeth in court, so now she can hold that over her head. Mary is use to being told what to do in the Proctor household, but now she has a little bit of control over her own life because of her defense of Goody Proctor.

ReplyDeleteMary Warren helped Elizabeth when she was being accused in court. Elizabeth was shocked that she was being accused for witchcraft. John Proctor said that "The little crazy children are jangling the keys of the kingdom, and common vengeance writes the law!" This qoute means that the kids are taking over the normal role of the adults.

She is going about it wronly. Proctor should Just goto the court and admit everything, not to mention deal with the consequences. Honestly, it is mostly his fault for it.

The court is arresting many people in the town on account if witchcraft. Proctors point of view is truthful. The town is taking vengeance on eachother and stealing thier neighbors land.

Abigial is the leader in the part of blaming people for witch caft and she did it b/c she wanted a man that was married and the wife found out the two were having an affair. Then when she was caught in the wood she had to find a way out of trouble. When Tatuba said what she did to stay out of trouble Abigial thought it was a good idea and start saying people were witches.
