The movie version...
Now that you have seen the movie version of The Crucible, write a brief review of the movie. Be sure to include parts that you liked and why you liked them, as well as descriptions of the parts you didn't like and why you didn't like them.
I think that they should have not hung all those people until they actually had proof that they were nothing but witchcraft. Abigail made me mad because she was always lying and she never told the truth. I still don't get the point that Betty was not in the end of the story. I think the movie had a stupid ending because we do not know what happens to Betty and Elizabeth. I hope the girls burn in hell for lying. That's just my opinion.
Well the movie was ok, but it had parts I did not like. When they hung Mr.Jacobson was one of the saddest parts, he was just to old to hang it was wrong. I did not like when Abagail did the stupid" I seea bird thing." In all the movie was a seven out of ten, but the book was better
It's awful that they hung all of the people. Abigail is just a stupid whore, and so are the rest of the girls. All of innocent people are getting hung. While Abby & the other girls are still pretending they see spirits. Stupid whores. One of the parts I didn't like was the ending, it was sad to know that Elizabeth was pregnant and John was fixing to get hung. I dislike Abigail with a passion. One of the parts I liked was thinking that one of the girls was going to fall over one of them benches. Now that would have been extra funny!
I think they should not have hung John Proctor because he did confess. I think they should have hung abby in stead of john. I like the movie but the end of the movie was really stupid. Abby will burn in hell.
I liked the movie altogether. I think it is actually pretty funny that Abby only truly cared about Elizabeth being hanged because she wanted to be with John. Now John will be hanged and Abby is screwed. She will die a lonely, terrible, awful death and burn in hell.
I liked the movie better. It showed more emotion from the characters. You could see the affection from Abigail and how they faked the witchcraft. The movie stuck to the actual script very well. They should not hsve killed Giles Corey because he was an awesome old man. When Abigail and the other girls were accusing all of those innocent people they should have seen through their lies and not have believed them.
I enjoyed most of the movie. It gave me a better understanding of how witchcraft was handled back then. Basically, everyone was accused and if you wanted to live you confessed that you did it and wanted to die you told the truth. It was a good movie but proved how stupid people were back then.
The movie opens up with the girls running and dancing in the woods, which is were the suspicion of witchcraft begains. While in the woods, Parris finds the girls dancing and supposedly doing withcraft. This situation is latered asked to Abiagal from Parris because Betty can not wake up, but when she does, she tries to fly out the window twice. Once the girls learn that the punishment for witchcraft is hanging, they accuse other people. This results in numerous innocent people hang. Through court, the jugdes learn that the heart of everything is the affair between Abigal and John Proctor. Proctor admits it but the court wanted to hear it from his wife, so Elizabeth is asked and (trying to protect John's good name) lies. This results in John sentenced to hanging. Now Abiagal who relizes her mistake tries to send John to Barbadoes, but John tells her that, "We will see each other in hell." In one last attempt for Proctor to save himself, he must (supposedly) admit to dealings with the devil. He admits but says that no one else was seen with the devil. Unfortuantly this doesn't save anybody else. The movie ends with the hanging of Rebecca Nuse, Goody Osborne, and John Proctor.
The Good: My favorite part was when Elizabeth is brought into court to tell whether or not John had an affair with Abigal. You could feel the suspense and when she lied, she condeemed John to hanging.
The bad: I did not like how the movie ended. John showed no fight when he was at the hanging place. He just took it like he really did do dealings with the devil. He died a good and innocent man and that bugged me the most.
Okay, this movie was all kinds of jacked up. Why are you gunna hang an old man?? And then they went and hung an old woman, WITH HER HUSBAND WATCHING!! John should have said that he saw Abigail with the devil because she was a little *insert colorful language here*. I was hoping that Hale would run Abigail over with his horse. I liked the movie, but seriously...how stupid can you be? Witchcraft...REALLY??? No, they were dancing naked (which is weird), but they didn't need to be accusing everyone of 'sending their spirit out'. I mean that is just ridiculous. Abigail was just jealous that John didn't want her and her lying self.
The part of the movie i was here to see was the end. The thing i liked about it was it stuck to the scri0pt and didnt change very much. There is nothing i didnt like about the movie.
I dont like the way they hung everyone without knowing if they really was doing witchcraf. If they looked at everything they would have known that the only person that need to be hung is Abby.
I don't like the fact that they hung the innocent. I think abigail is crazy. She always gets her way about everything. All she wanted was John Proctor. I honestly think abigial should be hung!
I enjoyed watching the movie better than reading the play because in themovie you can actually see what's going on and it's easier to understand. The one thing I didn't like about the movie, though, is that they left out some of the details and things that happened in the play.
I liked the movie better than the book, just because it takes less time to watch the movie than read the book. I like pretty much the whole thing. It is a good story and seeing it made it better. I just didn't like the hanging part because I knew everyone was innocent.
The movie of The Crucile was very different. It is not something i would suggest to someone else to watch unless, they wanted to see something from the old days. All together the movie is okay and I would watch it again.
i liked the movie better than the book. the movie had more detail and it wass easier to understand. The only bad part of the story was when the 30 something people were hung for no reason.
I think the movie and the story were both very annoying due to the fact that the crazy, obsessive girl got a bunch of people killed all because she was involved in an affair....and its not happening again because she killed the guy she did it with so wow....irony.
I liked the movie better. My favorite part was when Mary was confessing, I liked it because she was doing the right thing. I didnt like the part where they hung the good people just becasue the girls claimed that they did witchcraft. They need a new judge!
i didnt get to see much of the movie but what i did see was pretty boring. the only part i liked was when Abigail slapped Betty because she was out of it.
I really liked the movie. It was very interesting and kept my attention. I dont really have a favorite part except the end where they ended the movie saying the Lord's prayer.
The movie was similar to the book, I like that.My favorite part was when Rebecca Nurse, Martha Corey and John Proctor ascended to the gallows. Why? It showed that even though Proctor says that he is not a saint, he will still do the thing that others could not, which would be to tell the truth and stick with it even after death. I didn't like when the girls accused other people because they want others to deal with the wrong-doings that they themselves have done.
I liked the part were Mary Warren confesses to lying in the courtroom. I liked this part because it took a turn from where i thought it would end up. I didn't like when they were going to put the confession on the church doors and embarrass him by doing so.
I liked the movie better because; It showed me more emotion from the characters. I think that they shouldn’t hang all those innocent people until they actually had proof that they were using witchery.
My favorite part was when Elizabeth is brought into court to tell them what she know about the affair, but then she decided to lie and John told her that he confessed and she was like…oh crap! Lol I loved it.
Good Part: My favorite part was when Elizabeth is brought into court to tell whether or not John had an affair with Abigal. You could feel the suspense and when she lied, she condeemed John to hanging.
Bad Part: I did not like how the movie ended. John showed no fight when he was at the hanging place. He just took it like he really did do dealings with the devil. He died a good and innocent man and that bugged me the most.
I liked the movie well the parts of the movie i saw. I think its awful that all of them people got hung.I also think if anybody got hung it should've been Abigail.
Well, since I didn't see the whole movie, I don't have that mch to say. So here goes nothing. I liked the parts when they almost believed Mary Warren and John Proctor about Abigail. It would serve her right to be hung, but instead all of the innocent peple were hung. That's the worst part.
The parts of the movie and the book i did not like was these chicks actin like someone was tryin to hurt them. they looked like a bunch of idiots. But I thought the movie was better than the book.
I liked the movie more because instead of reading what the characters were doing, we actually got to SEE what they were doing. I don't think there were any parts in the movie that I didn't like. The movie its self was really good. The actors did a great job. I didn't like the ending of the book or the movie... Abigail should have got what she deserved. John should have been set free because he was innocent. I mean I know that they couldn't prove anything, but I still think Abigail should have been hung. It's really sad that John left Elizabeth and his children at the end, but at least he thought he was doing the right thing.
The movie was alright. I didn't like how Abigail wanted to get rid of a great women just so she could have John. I do like that John told Abigail that it was over. I don't like how Abigail wanted to be childish and lie. I do like that John stood up for everyone caught up in Abigails lies by admitting to having an affair with her.
i liked the movie. It was interesting. i hate the fact that all of them people had to be hung just because they wouldnt confess but if everybody did confess then it would just be a repeating situation. John did the wrong thing by having an affair on elizabeth with abigail, but he did admitt to it in front of the court. So he got cauht up in abigails lies and got hung while she ran off to Barbodas with money she stole from Reverend Parris.
I like the move a little but the only part i like is the part were everyone was in fear of being hung justfor the simple saying i saw this person with the devil. In which they did not really see no one. also everyone was so scared that they could not see the pattern going on in which it was only the girls saying who they saw and no one else. also for the change of events because everyone started dying then on the spot .
I liked the movie. But it's not cool that all those folks died for no reason. Women will catch you up in some serious crap. Abigail got John caught up in her lies and because of that, ironiclly, the one person she loves got killed, plus about 19 other people.
I liked the movie better than the book. It was very interesting. I didn't have a favorite part, but I did like at the end where they said the Lord's Prayer. But the worst part was when they started hanging them.
I like the movie better than book because it was easier to understand what was going on. I didnt like how they just started accusing innocent people of withcraft with harldy any proof at all.
it was difrent fom the book because unlike the people who are reading the parts in books at lest the acters know how to play the roles in the story.it was sadder because unlike in the book you could see whats going on in the story.
sam said... I did not like the movie. It was far too dramatic for my taste. there was too much screaming for me to enjoy it. I did not like any part of it. I disliked every part of it.
i watched the movie and read the play, and i have to say that i like the play better because one can use his/her own imagination to better the story for their self instead of all the others having the same experience.
I think the movie was pretty dumb for just leaving it at like a dead end leaving us not knowing what happend to most of the people in the story. I liked all those people being dramatic better than the boring book though. but we all now were Abigail is going.
I haven't seen the movie but i have read the play which as of now it is kind of interesting that things are going on like they are. Also it seems as if it is happening today.
i liked the movie. It was interesting. i hate the fact that all of them people had to be hung just because they wouldn't confess. Abigail made me mad because she was always lying and she never told the truth.Abigail should have been hung. It's really sad that John left Elizabeth and his children at the end, but at least he thought he was doing the right thing.i think the movie was better then the book.
The Crucibal the movie, is a interesting movie on a whores vengence. Abigail Williams, who is Goody Proctors house cleaner, has an affair with John Proctor, who is married with two going on three children. They get caught and she is kicked out of the household. She then drinks charms to kill Goody Proctor, and then when things stop going her way she starts accusing people of witchcraft, and kills a lot of people. She then leaves town when she herself is questioned. Leaving JOhn and everybody else to cope with the chaos she left behind.
I think that they should have not hung all those people until they actually had proof that they were nothing but witchcraft. Abigail made me mad because she was always lying and she never told the truth. I still don't get the point that Betty was not in the end of the story.
